Wayleaves Bill consultation
Manx Utilities is seeking views from members of the public, interested parties and stakeholders on the proposed clauses within the new Draft Wayleaves Bill.
This Bill seeks to enable existing national infrastructure to be used to greatly enhance the provision of high speed commercial telecommunications services throughout the Island benefitting residents and businesses in support of the Isle of Man Government’s National Telecoms Strategy.
The Bill will enable the installation of equipment in instances where an agreement is already in place without the need for new agreements. The landowner’s protections for the loss of amenity under the existing agreement will remain in place and extend to the new use.
The Bill does not provide for the building of new infrastructure without agreement by the landowners and or occupiers of the land concerned.

Updating this legislation is critical to enable the delivery of the Island’s National Broadband Plan, which will accelerate the delivery of fibre broadband and give access to fast, reliable internet to households and businesses right across the Island. We would like to hear the views of all residents and stakeholder groups.”
The consultation will run for 6 weeks, concluding on Friday 10 July 2020.
