Manx Utilities has started the next phase of its smart meter upgrade with the focus now on domestic billed customers.

Phase one of the electricity prepayment (key) meters was successfully completed with customers migrated to the new SmarterPAYG system.

Phase two will see electricity customers contacted by Manx Utilities in writing when their old-style electricity meter is due to be upgraded to a smart meter; so customers don’t need to take any immediate action.

The same billing arrangements will apply and there will be no changes to payment methods.  Customers will however have access to the SmarterLiving app which will provide actual data on usage and costs related to electricity consumption.

Manx Utilities Chair, Tim Crookall MHK said, “We received an excellent response on the completion of phase one from our SmarterPAYG customers upgrading to a smart meter, particularly in relation to the benefits available via the SmarterLiving app.  Technology is providing a positive experience for customers who can now track their energy use and potentially make changes that reduce energy bills and support a cleaner, greener future.”
