Manx Utilities has announced a major investment in a new metering system, the first stage of which will be to replace ageing key meters with new smart meters which can be topped up online and over the counter to ensure full accessibility. The first installation of these meters will commence in 2020.

Manx Utilities has announced that it will decommission the diesel generator engines currently installed at Ramsey Power Station in Gardner’s Lane, following a third-party analysis of the high voltage electricity network supply to Ramsey and the North of the Island.

Construction work has commenced at the Old Noble’s Hospital car park to install an underground storm water storage tank to help manage flood flows from the Ballakermeen Road catchment. The scheme, which is expected to be completed in May 2019 will serve to reduce the flooding experienced on Peel Road and the Hills Meadow Industrial Estate.

Manx Utilities has confirmed that it intends to continue with the hosepipe ban and is thanking Island residents and businesses for ‘using water wisely’ initiatives; which have seen a 10% reduction in demand from the water treatment works.
